May wrap up

I've just come off my second 12 hour shift in a row, so I will do this as quickly for you as I can. Due to my work I haven't had a huge amount of time to read, so it's a slightly shorter wrap up than usual.

The Ask And The Answer - Patrick Ness
I really enjoyed this book, it was a great continuation of the story, and I'm looking forward to reading Monsters Of Men soon. The characters are loveable and the plot is getting really interesting.

Fire And Flood - Victoria Scott
I heard from lots of people that this book is like a cross between The Hunger Games and Pokemon. I can definitely see where the comparisons came from, but unlike others I don't consider it a bad thing. This book was so exciting, I loved it.

Spell Bound - Rachel Hawkins
This was a really good conclusion to a fun and interesting trilogy. I really enjoyed all 3 books, and when (if) I chisel down my tbr a little I may look into buying more of her books.

Obsidian, Onyx, Opal and Origins - Jennifer L Armentrout
I initially just bought these books because they had stopped being made, I didn't have much interest in actually reading them. I'm really glad I did though, this series is really good. There was so much tension between Kat and Daemon, and the characters were all hilarious. I didn't really expect the whole government conspiracy thing though.

Tithe - Holly Black
This was my second and final attempt at Holly Black. I just don't get along with her characters, and her storylines just always fall flat for me.

The Darkest Minds - Alexandra Bracken
I really loved this book. It was thrilling, exciting, the characters were great, and the plot was quite believable. I actually cried at the end, I couldn't believe it. I need the second book ASAP now.

The Mortal Instruments anniversary

So I was doing my morning interneting earlier and discovered that it has been a year since City of Heavenly Fire came out. It has sure been a hell of a ride. I came into the world a little late, I actually started off with The Infernal Devices, but from the minute I started City of Bones I was hooked. I know people say to wait until book 3 for it to get good, but I really loved it from beginning to end.

I don't even know fully the level of feels this series has put me through, but it has definitely been a roller coaster of a ride. From the fears of Clary and Jace going through their issues, to some of the most empathetic villains (after a point) I have laughed and cried so many times. I really was surprised with how much the last book affected me, without trying to spoil things I never thought after all he did Sebastian would be deserving of any sympathy, but Jonathon absolutely broke my heart. I still feel it difficult hearing the name without tearing up.

So yeah, in conclusion I absolutely love this series. The sarcasm, the world building, and the characters all add up to a great series, and I feel I am due a reread of the books very soon.

So many books, so little money!

I'm sure we all have this problem, so I'm going to try and give a few tips on how to get maximum books for the costs.

  • Book offers. If you look close enough, these are everywhere. In most Waterstones they do a buy one get one half price and you can get some really amazing books on these. The Works do selected books 3 for £5, although sadly this is a bit hit and miss. And most supermarkets do 2 for £7.
  • Cheap shops. I mentioned both of these shops above in the offers, but both The Works and supermarkets do their books not on offers for usually between £2-4, with boxsets from about £9.99 upwards.
  • Online shopping. Amazon.co.uk is probably a huge lifesaver for me. Not only so I look on there, but tend to look on the new and used sections, most of which I can get for about £3, and I usually get them in really good condition.
  • Charity shops. When in doubt I tend to look around the charity shops, and sometimes I hit the jackpot. I found most of The Caster Chronicles in a local charity shop for under a fiver, and Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Unfortunately these don't always come in the best condition, and I will probably end up rebuying a few books in better condition.
  • Book giveaways. Ok, I haven't been overly lucky with these in the past, but I have received a couple of really good books from them, and there are usually some amazing books you can at least apply to win. These definitely are cheap because they don't cost anything at all.
So here we are, my little handy hints on how not to break your bank any more than necessary, although following these I still tend to go a but crazy. I seem to think because I was buying everything cheaper I can buy more. I'm sure there's logic in there somewhere...

End of May book haul

Ok, so I know I said that I was only going to get one more book, but yeah...things happened and that completely failed. So here we are, all the lovely books I have accumulated in the last few days.

So here we have, from Amazon.co.uk:

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Random Riggs

And from Waterstones:

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
A Discovery Of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Monsters Of Men by Patrick Ness
Siege And Storm by Leigh Bardugo
A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J Maas

And that's it, definitely more than the one I planned, but hey, I'm excited to read every single one of these books. Anyone read any of these? Or looking forward to reading any?

Book signing

So the day finally came today. I can at last say that I have met an author and had a book signed - and it was so nice. Unfortunately my brain slightly fell out, so while the girl in front of me was so cool and was just chatting to her like they were BFFs, all I could think to say was thank you for writing these books. Totally lame. But anyway, I met her and she was so nice, and so incredibly gorgeous, and I now have her new book! I also picked up a few other books and a package came through today, so we're looking at a book haul in the next couple of days, so keep your eyes out for that!

Delayed releases

So yesterday I was snooping on the Goodreads page for The Raven King, like you do, and I discovered that the release date is now 23rd February 2016. February. 2016. I've spent the last few months thinking that September was too long to wait, and now I have to wait another year!! I feel I may cry for the delay. I can't remember the last time a book I was anticipating became delayed, so I don't know what to do with myself! Although actually the paperback of Alligiant was supposed to come out a year ago and I am still waiting! Any tips how to keep sane until February? Any delayed releases that you've been really excited about?

Book confessions tag

I once again wasn't tagged in this, but it looks like fun so here we go!

 1. HAVE YOU EVER DAMAGED YOUR OWN BOOK?  Yes, unfortunately child me wasn't as careful with books as me. I used to write all over them, and any time the word sick was mentioned I crossed it out because I hated the word so much. I also read all of my Harry Potter books to the point that they fell apart.

2. HAVE YOU EVER DAMAGED A BORROWED BOOK?  I don't think so, I don't usually borrow books, then when I do apart from reading they stay on my bookcase.

3. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO READ A BOOK?  Umm, not very long really. It takes me a couple of days at least these days, but when I total up reading time it's usually only a few hours. Work tends to get in the way of my reading time now :(

 4. BOOKS THAT YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED? Most recently I couldn't finish was Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I try to finish books when I can though, no matter how much I dislike them.

5. HYPED/POPULAR BOOKS YOU DON’T LIKE?  The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin, Twilight by Stephanie Meyer...here are probably more but I can't think of any right now.

  6. CLASSICS YOU DIDN’T ENJOY?  Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I have only ever been able to get about 3/4 through the book, and only through forcing myself. I found it so boring. Also Macbeth by Shakespeare. I was 13 when I read it, and can't for the life of me remember why I hate t so much, but I really do.

 7. BOOKS YOU BOUGHT JUST FOR THE INTELLECTUAL-NESS OF IT ALL? I don't think I have ever bought a book to feel intellectual. I've bought a couple to learn more about certain subjects, but no more than that.

8. ANY BOOKS YOU HAVEN’T GIVEN BACK?  Hmmm........ Let's just say I have a library card I will never be able to use again. Aside from that and the odd book at my parents house from junior school I think every book I own currently is my own.

I will just tag everyone who feels like they might want to do his one.

Only 3 days left...

Until I meet the magical Sarah J Maas!!! I'm so excited, but also really nervous. I've never done something like this before, and the woman is not just a genius but one of the prettiest people I have ever seen. I'll be lugging all my Throne of Glass books with me, and will finally be buying A Court Of Thorns And Roses. I know it's been out all month, but I wanted to buy the copy the day I meet her. I can't wait to read it though, I wanted to anyway, but when I heard it was a Beauty And The Beast retelling with faries, my excitement levels went up to about a zillion.

Have you ever met an author? If so, who was it? If not, who would you most like to meet? And any tips to not just start babbling like an idiot to her?

A little thank you

I have to say,  my blog has taken a big surge in traffic this last week, so I just want to say how much it means to me that you're stopping by to hear my rants, raving and general fangirling. Whether you've just dropped in to read the odd post, or have stuck around and decided to follow me, it really does mean so much to me. Sorry this is a bit soppy, I just love you all.

Giving up on books

Today I have finished one book I really didn't like, and just completely given up on another, and it got me thinking. Why do we force ourselves through bad books? Why is it only some we give up on while we force ourselves through something we find truly boring.

The book I gave up on was Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, so a very hyped up book. I tried so hard to finish it because I know so many people adore it, and I was trying to find some redeeming qualities, but in the end I just couldn't do it. It was a really long book as well, so I think that is the main reason that I gave up on it. I found myself not even trying it pick it up for ages, and I could never find the motivation to actually want to read it.

The one I just managed to finish was Tithe by Holly Black. I know so many people love her, but every book I've read by her I just haven't enjoyed. This book was shorter, so it was quite easy to get through when I managed to actually read it. I don't think I'll be continuing on with the series, which I usually do try and do if I read the first book in a series.

So what I managed to work out is that I'll only really continue with a book I'm not enjoying if it's pretty short, and I will probably try and read more if lots of people are recommending it to people. I think a lot of people depend on the format of the story as well, which might be for me as well, as I read Tithe on my phone, so I had more access to it than anything else these last few days.

What about you? Do you force yourself to finish books you don't like? Are you more likely to try harder if they have a lot of hype? And are there any books you have given up on recently?

Top Ten Tuesdays - Bands

Ok, sorry again not a book post, but I do always read with music on in the background, so I guess it is kind of book related in a sense. Failing that it's just another of my passions, I could miss out on TV for days if it meant listening to music.

10. Fountains of Wayne.

So I first came across this band in my crazed teenage years, back when Stacy's Mom was the huge song going around, and I quite liked it but never tool the time to listen to other songs by them. This was pre-internet for me so it was pretty difficult. But then Scrubs came along, and with it the episode with the song Hey Julie, which I adored. From there I've listened to I think most of their songs, and they're just a really fun band.

9. The Lonely Island

This group probably seems a bit out of place on this list, but I do love a bit of TLI. Once again, they're fun, they make me laugh and their songs are pretty catchy. I can't really remember how I got into them now, I think it was through my ex boyfriend.

8. Simple Plan

This is actually quite a recent add for me. Obviously I've never disliked them, they've always just kind of been around, but I found their discography on Spotify not long ago, thought why not, and am really enjoying them.

7. Avril Lavigne

I have been in love with this woman since Sk8er Boi came out. She always looks so good, and her music is just great. I haven't been so in love with some of her recent stuff (trying to pretend Hello Kitty never existed) which is why she's not as high up as it might sound like she should be, but I still love her.

6. Kelly Clarkson

This woman is so talented. She has a voice that just hits you out of nowhere, and despite being a woman who is quite often high in the charts and everyone listens to, she actually writes songs that have meaning, that we can all relate to. I used to find it difficult listening to the album Breakaway, because it just hit too close to home after my first relationship crashed and burned, but it's a great album.

5. Bowling For Soup

So we're taking a trip back to fun bands a bit now. This band always manages to crack me up, but they also manage to delve deeper into all sorts of feels. They don't depend on their looks or hot bodies to sell their music (if you don't believe me look at them lol) but rely purely on their talent and humour, both of which they have loads.

4. Fall Out Boy

This, along with Avril Lavigne, was one of the first bands I started listening to. I love everything about this band, and the name of some of the songs just make me laugh so much, as do their videos. This is also a band I can listen to loads without my fiancé moaning at me, so that's a plus.

3. Paramore

It was unfortunately my first boyfriend that got me into this band. He might not have stuck around, but they sure have. Coincidentally a song of theirs just came onto Kerrang, and it's just emphasising how awesome they are. Catchy songs, clever lyrics, and just all round greatness. Also, how awesome was past Hayley's hair?? I have to admit, I love this band so much I was convinced I was going to name my first daughter after her.

2. All Time Low

I absolutely love this band. I recently embarrassed some of my friends, we walked into a shop the day their new album released and it was right on the first shelf as we walked in, and I literally squealed with excitement. They are just so honest, once again the songs are so catchy yet heartfelt, and yes, fun. I really am sensing a trend in the bands I listen to.

And finally...

1. Green Day

I don't even know where to start with how much I love this band. I will admit, it started when I was 12 and American Idiot came out, but from there it just completely exploded into a complete obsession. This probably sounds corny, but they really have saved my life several times, and I will forever be grateful to them. I saw them back in 2010 and it was one of the best nights of my life. I literally have just one complaint about them, and that's just how much they're hinting about a new album. I don't want hints, I want more songs!

Stacking the shelves

I thought I would do my monthly book haul now. Not all of these were ordered this months, a couple were late from last month. But here we go!

 So from Amazon I got:
The Girl At Midnight
The Queen of Zombie Hearts
The Percy Jackson box set

From local book shops I have:
Always The Bridesmaid
Rogue
Thief's Magic
Alice Through The Zombie Glass.

I will also be getting Court of Thorns and Roses in just over a week when I go to a book signing, but apart from it I think that's it for me bookwise.

Bookish identity tag

Ok, I wasn't tagged in this as such, but it looks like a fun one, so here we go! Also, apologies for the orange, I'm not sure what happened there.

1. What dystopian/fantasy world would you like to live in?

I'm probably going to completely stereotypical now, but Hogwarts hands down. Life would be so much easier if I could just use magic with everything, and the food sounds absolutely incredible. I'd probably end up the size of a house, but I would be happy. Also it would be so much easier getting around with brooms, the Knight Bus and apparation.

2. Who would your partner be?

Will Herondale, hands down. I'd probably just sit and stroke his beautiful face and hair all day long, then we could cuddle up together and read. I also love his sense of humour, and his passion is just so infectious. I completely and utterly love this man, team Will all the way!

3. Who would your godly parent be (Percy Jackson Series)

Probably Aphrodite, I seem to have a habit of accidentally making men fall in love with me.

4. Would you rather be a downworlder or a nephilim (Mortal Instruments series)

Probably a downworlder, but I'm not sure what type, as long as I'm not a faery! It would be pretty cool being a nephilim, but I'm not so good with the whole fighting thing.

5. Which house would you be in (Harry Potter)

Slytherin, every time. I've actually loved Slytherin since I first read the books when I was 7.

6. Which faction would you be in (Divergent)

I think I would probably be Amity, above everything else I try to be nice to people. I don't think I would like the control method though.

7. What would your daemon be (Northern Lights series)

I don't really like these books so I don't know.

8. Who do you tag?

Whoever wants to do it!

What I'm watching

I thought today I will take a little break from books and discuss with you a few things that are frequenting my tellybox these days.

First off, we have Friends. This is a program that never tends to leave my telly for long, I absolutely adore it. Forget marathoning it, I have been known to triathlon it at some points. It's the perfect show for when I want a chilled out morning before heading into work.

Once Upon a Time is also one of my favourites at the moment, I love anything to do with Disney, so I am really enjoying it. I'm taking ages to get through it though, I've been on it for about 3 months and I am still on series 3. It's such an intriguing story though, and I've heard it just gets more and more exciting,

The Big Bang Theory. For some reason I stopped watching season 8 for a while, so we're having a lot of catching up to do. I heard there is a complete cliffhanger at the end, so I am dying to know what it is! Really hoping it's a step forward for Sheldon and Amy!

Couples Come Dine With Me. I don't think this airs in America, so I will give a bit of an explanation on this one. Basically 3 sets of couples meet up for the first time at eachother's houses, and they all have to cook for eachother, then they get scored at the end. It probably sounds a bit lame, but it can get absolutely hilarious at points, and I enjoy when people get into fights on it.

And I think that is it for now. What about you guys? Are you watching anything you feel I should be watching, or have any feelings about what's on for me?

Obsidian review

Obsidian - Jennifer L Armentrout

When Katy and her mother move into the back end of nowhere, she instantly develops a bad vibe with her male next door neighbour. But then she befriends his twin sister, and from there things get a little bizarre, and Katy starts realising there might be slightly more to this town. Then she gets attacked, and from there things start to get dangerous, and she finally learns the truth.

I know I am ridiculously late in reading these books, but I don't think you can even buy them over in the UK unless you buy online, and better late than never, right? Delayed reading aside, I actually really enjoyed this book, we're safe in that the terrible cover doesn't in anyway relate to the quality of the story. Time just seemed to vanish while I was reading, and I probably could have finished it in one sitting if I hadn't had work yesterday afternoon.

I found Kat to be such a relateable character, she loved books and had a blog, at least half of which I think most people can relate to, and she was so quiet and never wanted any trouble. Then enter Daemon, he managed to bring out a whole other side to her, one I also rather loved. And leading on from that, the Kat/Daemon relationship. I have no idea whether I loved it or hated it, I don't think either of them truly know what they want yet, but the tension between them at points was almost flammable. I will look forward to seeing how the relationship develops over the books.

All in all this was a great book, but nothing overly new, so I will be giving it 4 out of 5 stars, and will definitely be continuing with the series.

This Week's Reading

Sorry I've been quiet for a couple of days, things have been rather hectic at work and I've not really had much time for blogging. I managed to finish reading Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins though, which was a great end to an enjoyable series.

So this week I will probably once more be having 3 books on the go, on 3 different formats, so I will just let you all in on this, with a little information on all, although I don't really know much about any of them so far.

My paperback book will be Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout. All I really know about this series is that it's about aliens and there is a love interest somewhere, and some of the most frustrating cover changes ever. I'm just over 100 pages into this so far and I'm quite enjoying it so far. If I finish it this week I will be moving onto Onyx.

My ebook will be Tithe by Holly Black. Literally all I know about this book is that it's about faries. I started it yesterday but I didn't really get much time to read any of it so I really am kind of lost in what it really is about. I'm hesitant about this book, as I read her Curse Workers books and didn't think much of them, but I love faries so I will try it again.

On audiobook I am still going on Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. This is a book about a woman who gets transported in time to old time Scotland (I'm not really sure what time period). Once again, I don't really know much more, it's a mammoth audiobook and I only usually listen to it when I'm out with my iPad, something which doesn't happen often these days.

So that is it for my week, hopefully I'll find some good reading time this week as I have a more settled work schedule, although I'm currently spending precious reading time watching Beauty and the Beast.

Fire And Flood review

This book is about a girl called Tella, whose brother is dying. One day she receives a mysterious earpiece, telling her she been invited to compete in the Brimstone Bleed - a race taking place over 4 rough terrains, including jungles and desert. Sounds crazy, yes? Why would you even agree to this? Because the prize is a cure for any illness. With a dying brother at home, who could really say no to this? But of course nothing is ever as it seems.

I really enjoyed this book. It gets a lot of negativity because it is kind of like a cross between the Hunger Games and Pokemon, but I completely fail to see how that is a negativity. It has all the potential The Hinger Games is, except I found it really exciting and found it really hard to put down. The character development was good, and the romance had a lot of sexual tension in it for me.

This book was also full of surprises, and I didn't see any of the twists coming. I found the back story for the race so intriguing, and I hope that Guy achieves his mission. The Pandora were fun to learn about, and I adore Madox, he sounds adorable! I will definitely be buying and reading the sequel to this book soon. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

My ever growing tbr

I think I have a serious problem. A couple of months ago I had 2 or 3 books on my tbr shelf, I now have 42, and take up 2 shelves. I'm a pretty fast reader, and still I can't up with the speed of which I have been buying books! I have spent the past month on a book buying ban, but last month I completely failed, and I have bought 4 this month, and still need to get A Court Of Thorns And a Roses, ready to meet Sarah J Maas at the end of the month. I really need to take some action, but I don't know if a ban is the way to go, as all it is doing is just making me feel guilty for every time I buy a book or 2. The TV probably isn't helping much, it's so much easier to sit and order books while watching Friends than trying to attention to the telly and a book! There are just so many books I want at the moment, and I don't really like ebooks or audiobooks so I can't just rely on them for a while.

My OTPs

I am completely in love with half of the book world, so it probably isn't just one true pairing that I have, it's more like Every True Pairing, with all the ships! I will try and keep it a bit shorter than my brain though, or you'll be reading this all year. I might try a semblance of an order, but usually when I try my brain smushes and I just end up fangirling everywhere instead. Also a disclaimer, some of these are real, some are in my mind, and I will try and keep it all spoiler free.

9. Hazel Grace Lancaster and Agustus Waters

They have such a sweet, pure teenage love. In my old age I am finding first loves and teenage relationships so pure and simple, and John Green has managed to capture that perfectly. Ok, so there's the whole cancer thing, and the ending, but aside from those minor points these two manage to sit comfortably on my number 10.

8. Nathan and Gabriel

I do apologise, surnames have escaped me, but those of you who have read the Half Bad trilogy so far must know the feels. They have such chemistry and I can slightly feel my hear exploding when I read them together. If it weren't for that stupid Annalise everything would be absolutely perfect. Come on Sally, make it happen!

7. Celeana and Dorian

Apparently now I am just giving up on surnames a bit, but there are such complicated names. Either way, these two, I can't even. They make me so happy, and I supremely hope that they end up together in the end because they really crack me up. I love couples with some banter and sarcasm. I know her and Chaol are good together, and I do kinda ship them too, but her and Dorian just give me all the feels.

6. Angela and Alex Reid

Ok, we're just popping away from YA to visit the I Heart... series by Lindsey Kelk. These two, wow. He is just so dreamy and I love him. They both really complement each other, and to see them apart is just really devastating. I love this series, and I think these two are the main reason why. I need more of them in my life.

5. Blue and Gansey

These two would probably be higher, but it's such a bittersweet love, and I'm not sure how we can ever win. If they fall in love and kiss then Gansey will die, but then if they don't fall in love and get together than my heart might explode. I can't even really know how much I really love them with this knowledge, but I really want them to be together!

4. Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood

I have to ask as much as I love and adore J.K Rowling, what was she thinking with never getting these two together?? I think they would be absolutely perfect together, and they are really sweet together as friends, so imagine what they would be like as a couple! I guess it's because she is so away with the faries and he's so forgetful? I guess that would be a bit of a downside, but nobody's perfect.

3. Tessa Gray and Will Herondale

I love love love them! Will is definitely one of my book boyfriends, but I love Teasa so much I'll let her have him I guess. They make me happy, and I imagine they make a very attractive couple. I love how they have books in common and they can just sit and read together, that's he dream!

2. Aragorn and Arwen

I have to say I have no idea how this one came about, or why I love Arwen so much, because she has like 2 or 3 mentions in the whole series, but from my first read through I have absolutely adored these two together. I know a lot of people sacrifice things for eachother, but she let's go of her immortality to be with him!

1. Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley

These two, just...wow. From the second or third book I was desperate for them to get together, then when they did I was so happy, then I was devastated when they split up. If I'm honest I cried more at them breaking up than Dumbledore dying, but I try not to admit that to people. The last couple of books were a serious whirlwind for the Harry/Ginny shippers, but I was so glad when they finally got their happy ending.

Tips for a reading slump

I posted yesterday that I hadn't picked up a book yet this month, but today I finished own book and read 23% of another. The slump has broken! Here are some tips on how to get over a slump.

Watch booktube videos. This is both good and bad, you need to be able to watch enough videos to get your enthusiasm back, but not too many for you to just become too engrossed in them to just spend hours watching them and forgetting all about books.

If you're ill, and I'm talking properly ill, not with a cold, don't pick up a book at all, because it will absolutely ruin it.

Read a few pages each day. Even that one page could turn it all around if there is something on that page that really grabs your interest. A lot of my slumps involve a huge amount of picking up books, reading about a chapter, then putting it down again, then picking it up again about an hour later.

Spend some time alone with your bookcase. Organise it, make notes on which books you own, or even sit and stare at it for a whole. Something might pop up that you would suddenly love to read, or you might just get some time with some pretty books.

If you just want to binge on TV or something in the meantime, just do it. Books may be important but  a bit of telly every now and again. Also you will not enjoy your book if you spend the whole time thinking about the latest episode of Once Upon A Time.

Most importantly, don't stress. The time will come when you will decide to pick up another book, and then you'll probably just read and read until your eyes hurt. Having a while of not reading doesn't mean you will never read again. I dread to think about the amount of reading slumps I've been in my life, and yes they are pretty unsettling, but it isn't forever.

So I guess the main thing to remember is that reading is supposed to be fun, so if you aren't finding it fun then wait until a point that you do.

Bookmark Monday - 4th May

As with my past bookmark this baby came from Amazon.co.uk. I don't know what it is about this style of bookmark, but I think they are absolutely gorgeous, and let's face it, at £1.99 they're an absolute steal. Hopefully I will be able to do more of these in the future, I decided a few weeks ago that I need more bookmarks, so we'll see how that goes with my brain always telling me I need more books instead of anything else!

Book slump

I am at a complete book slump right now, I have yet to actually pick up a book this month. What with working, and right now feeling ill, I'm really not finding the time or inclination to read anything. I'm listening to Outlander by Diana Gabaldon on audiobook, but I'm terrible with them, when I listen to them everything just goes in one ear and out the other. I need to get out of this slump soon though, 2 of my books to read are library books, and most of the others I am just completely dying to get to. Hopefully some point this month I will get some time to sit and pick up a book!

Early releases

So the last 3 books I preordered from my local bookshop have arrived early, the most recent being Rogue by Julie Kagawa, which isn't officially out yet, but I got a text after work on Thirsdsy (coincidentally payday) saying it had arrived, and I was so excited. I absolutely adore it when I get those texts, as long as I actually have the money for them, that is! I'm not even talking about those books that arrive a day early, most of mine are a week or 2 early! I think I do it too much though, the only contact information the man at the till needed was a confirmation of my phone number!

On the other hand, I preordered The Girl At Midnight by Melissa Grey at the beginning of April. It came out on 28th April and I still don't have that beautiful cover in my life!I seem to have varying levels of success with Amazon, much prefer bookshops, but it's cheap and sometimes you just have to go for the cheaper option.
